OK. First of all. WE’RE GETTING A NEW THEME PARK!!!!! And DOLLY PARTON is behind it! So you KNOW it’s going to be amazing.
And guess who’s pic is in the gallery of the announcement? Little 10-year-old me auditioning for the first time. I still can’t believe they put my pic in the paper for this. I hadn’t even gotten the job yet…
This exact moment CHANGED MY LIFE. I’m playing the fiddle in the photo which means it was the moment right before they asked me to sing for them… I said… “Ummm… well, I’ve never sung for anyone before. What should I sing?” They said “Happy Birthday”.
So I did.
And got a callback.
And a job.
For 4 Years.
At 10 years old.
Performing every day.
Opryland is so dearly missed. The second they tore that park down and built a mall – a piece of so many of us Tennesseans died. We’ll never get it back. But this announcement sure does come as the next best thing.
